What we need from you to register a Virginia system
Your interconnection document — your utility's approval to operate — is the only document we need. Virginia adds none of its own. See Interconnection Documents for what this is and how to get it, and we'll tell you if anything else comes up.
Your system also needs a revenue grade meter: a meter accurate enough for its readings to be used to sell credits. You or your installer confirm your Virginia system has one when you sign up — it isn't a document we ask for, and we'll tell you what your options are if it turns out your system lacks one.
How far back can you go to mint and sell SRECs?
If your system was connected to the grid more than five years ago, register as soon as you can. Virginia lets you sell SRECs going back five years from the date PJM GATS, the SREC registry, approves your registration — so the longer approval takes, the more of your oldest production falls outside that window.
