Why your payout choices are different in New Jersey

New Jersey runs its own state SREC (Solar Renewable Energy Certificate) programs, and which RECmint payout options are available to you depends on which of those programs your system is in. This is why Fixed Rate and Upfront aren't offered to New Jersey customers.

What sets your SREC rate in New Jersey

What you're paid per SREC in New Jersey depends on which New Jersey state program your system is registered in.

  • Systems in the older, market-based program earn whatever SRECs are trading for, so the rate moves with the market. RECmint's standard Market payout is available for these systems.

  • Systems in New Jersey's current programs earn a rate that the state sets administratively rather than one set by the market. Because the state fixes the rate, RECmint's standard payout options don't apply — what you're paid follows the state's rate for your system.

We do need your New Jersey certification number. As the system owner, you'll be the one who receives it when your system is certified, so check your own records first. If anything else is needed from you, we'll reach out.

We can tell you which program your system is in and what that means for your payments.
