System Upgrades

Adding panels to a system already registered with RECmint

If you've added panels or otherwise increased your solar system's capacity, contact us and tell us what changed. We file it as an upgrade to your existing system rather than registering a second one, because state SREC offices keep one registration per address.

You can submit this directly in your portal. At the bottom of your system's overview, click "Report a system upgrade," and fill in the requested information.

Once you've notified us, allow 4 to 6 weeks for the upgrade to be processed. We handle the whole process on our end and will reach out if we have any questions.

How adding panels affects your payments

If you're on an Upfront payout — where you were paid once, in advance, for a set number of years of SRECs — an upgrade means your contract is looked at again. We do that case by case and will talk it through with you before anything changes. Other payout options aren't affected this way.

If you replaced equipment rather than adding capacity

Swapping an inverter or replacing panels without increasing your system's size isn't an upgrade, so there's nothing to file. It can still interrupt the production data we receive, so tell us anyway and we'll make sure your reporting keeps working.
